There’s some precedent in my older stuff with the Zeta carry-all, and I figure this was an older attempt at a combat version of the same basic idea. The legs can either grab or walk, depending on the mode.
To impose some sort of order on the design and the concept, I figured it was basically a flying Robotech style mech/fighter. Some of the art later got more functional looking, but still the idea seemed nuts to me. There were Mandalorians riding these droid like vehicles in vacuum without a cockpit, and the original was something that looked like a trilobite meets an Opee from the prequels, with unusable limbs that seemed to be there just for show.
This comes from the Old Republic era comics, and in the original iteration were frankly totally insane.
